Galatea and the Dupe, released in November 2023, is the ninth book in the Signalverse series. It's a little darker and a little more introspective than the previous books -- Chance, the protagonist, starts out as unlikeable jerk, and he spends most of the story in a nightmarish kind of situation, locked up by supervillains who are exploiting his powers. As a result there's a little less action and a little more character development in this one than in some of the previous books.
The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, with a few issues unresolved. That's because the sequel, City of Strange Gods, is set to pick up where this one leaves off; Chance and Galatea are major characters in that book, along with Jack and Lia from The Adventures of Jack and Miracle Girl, Alan and Raye from Sneak and the Shadow of Darkplanet, and Ally and Danny from Champions Weekly.
